Construction of Section C of the Safwa-Jubail Expressway, a major road infrastructure improvement project, took a combined 700 million job hours over three years, and resulted in the delivery of a complex improvement of critical importance.
Road networks are of strategic importance to Saudi Arabia’s industrial development. They require huge investments in the development of transport infrastructure in addition to the expansion of land, sea and air transport. The Safwa-Jubail Expressway connects Al-Jubail, one of the largest industrial cities in the Middle East, with Safwa. The city has experienced rapid economic growth and expansion since its founding in 1975, and improvements to road infrastructure were required to support this continued growth. This project confirmed Al Mashrik’s ability to create state-of-the-art infrastructure to support the Kingdom’s economy and reinforced its status as a preferred contractor for government initiatives.
